We’ve all been there, sat at home warm and cosy on the sofa bingeing on your latest Netflix obsession. You’ve had a long, tiring, busy day at work and now you want to enjoy your evening in a pair of comfy jogging bottoms. But, you know that you should be at the gym sweating it out on the cross trainer or in that Spin class pedalling at full speed.
Here’s 4 reasons to ditch Netflix, put your trainers on and get sweating...
You’ll Feel Great After
We all get that endorphin rush after exercise and we all feel great for it! Remember how you felt after your last workout and you promised yourself to do it more often? That could be you all over again in just an hour’s time.
Exercise is one of the best treatments for stress, anxiety and even depression. Yet it is the least utilised form of treatment for all of the above. Taking time out of your busy day to distract your mind from stressful thoughts will leave you feeling wonderfully relaxed and ready to face the day, or to get a good night’s sleep (depending on when you work out).
Not only will your mind be more relaxed but your body will too after getting a good workout and a chance to stretch muscles that you don’t normally use during day-to-day activities.
It’s Just An Hour
There’s 24 hours in the day...can you not spare one of them to give yourself the energy to get through the other 23? Or maybe half of one? Get on the floor and do some sit-ups, push ups, planks...anything to get your heart racing for a few minutes. It’s a small amount of your day dedicated to being the best possible version of you.
No Such Thing as a Bad Workout
There’s the saying that the only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen. Even if you get there and only manage 15 minutes on the bike and a few chest presses you still did way more than you would have on the sofa.Don't enjoy your workouts? There's so many other things you could be doing to get into shape. Read our blog on 5 ways to fall in love with exercise HERE.
